During the lockdown of 2020, Kathleen Green pledged to recite her stories and overcome her fear of public speaking before she reached 60.
Kathleen lives on an organic farm in picturesque Northern Tasmania, surrounded by native forest and wildlife, inspiring her humorous bush poetry.
Kathleen Green, one of six children, grew up in a small country town of northern Tasmania, with very little going on. In her mid 20s, with a stutter and husband, without a worldly clue, she went travelling and worked on the mainland, overseas, returning to live in three states of Australia over the next 30 years before returning to Tasmania with a wealth of stories in her head to be told. Her daughter lives in Melbourne, her son and grandchildren in Sydney.
A talk on poetry and encouragement from friends and family urged Kathleen to write. The gloom of the 2020 lockdown and uncertainty for the future, gave her the final push to do things she had never done, or she ever imagined she could do. Kathleen entered a poetry slam heat in Deloraine, winning 3rd place. A turning point in her life.
Since then, Kathleen has been writing and reciting, between being a farmer, a nanna, caring for environment and wildlife, and being part of the vibrant creative Deloraine community. Kathleen's children and granddaughter are excited and proud to be watching her on stage in Sydney.
