Jess Lea-Balthazaar was inspired to write poetry in childhood in order to continue the legacy of her grandfather, confessionalist poet Shelton Lea and won the Write4Fun 2012 Poetry competition for young Australian authors. Nowadays, Jess writes for herself to release emotions, understand experiences, and use language to break through isolation.
