World Poetry Slam Championship is an event featuring Word Travels and Australian Poetry Slam Artists.
The Word Poetry Slam Championship (WPSC), arrives in Brazil for the first time, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, during the 13th edition of the Festa Literária das Periferias (Flup), from October 12th to 15th 2023 local time.
During the 4-day event, which will take place in the Vila Olímpica da Gamboa, at the foot of the first “favela” in the world, the audience will be able to attend panel debates, shows and film screenings. The whole program will be free and all rounds and the final will be broadcast live (by livestream) so that followers around the world will be able to watch the event online.
After the first edition, in Belgium in 2022, the second edition of the spoken word poetry world will bring together 40 poets, from 40 different countries, from five continents. Twelve poets from Africa will participate, representing South Africa, Niger, Ghana, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Nigeria, Mozambique, Ivory Coast and Morocco. There are also twelve from Europe, coming from Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, England, Spain, Slovenia, Cyprus, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ireland and Lithuania. From Asia, Japan and Israel. From Oceania, New Zealand and Australia have representatives. And from Abya Yala, there will be poets from Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Haiti, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina and Brazil.
