Tune into RTRFM 92.1 each Tuesday morning at 10.30AM during the slam series to hear two poets from the heats battle it out on air!

Two minutes to make your mark on the mic! Witness the verbal fitness as eclectic word wizards battle each other for prizes.

Calling all WA word-wranglers, poets, rappers, monologists and spoken-wordsmiths! Have you got what it takes to be Australia’s next Poetry Slam champion?

Contestants are given a microphone, a live crowd and just two minutes to impress randomly selected audience-member judges with their spoken words.

Audiences can expect up to 20 performers each week, smashing out a diverse array of fast, entertaining spoken-word poetry.

Each heat winner and runner-up will receive prizes and progress to the State final with the chance to compete for the 2011 Australian Poetry Slam national title in Sydney.

The WA state winner and runner-up will take home $500 and $100 in prize money respectively and be flown to Sydney to compete on the main stage of the Sydney Theatre Company on 27th November for the title of 2011 Australian Poetry Slam Champion!

The 2011 Australian Slam Champion wins the “ultimate writer’s festival tour of Bali and China” as part of the Bookworm International Literary Festival in China and the Ubud International Writers and Readers Festival in Bali - around $11,000 worth of flights, accommodation, expenses and performers fees.
